Washing Dark Clothing
Dark color introduces concerns about fading and dye transfer, but it does not eliminate differences in fabric and construction. A heavy dark garment and a delicate dark blouse may need separate loads. Check care labels, handle uncertain dyes cautiously, and choose compatible temperatures and products instead of treating every black or navy item as interchangeable.
Match care labels before loading
Maytag groups compatibility around color, fabric weight, soil level, temperature, and cycle. Items can share a load when these needs align, with the care label making the final decision. Similar colors alone do not establish that two garments can tolerate the same wash action.

Recognize conflicting needs
Heavy denim can stress fine textiles, deep dyes can affect lights, and heavily soiled items can transfer residue. New garments may also need separation until their colorfastness is clear. Building loads around compatible needs helps protect clothing more effectively than forcing every item from a full laundry basket into one cycle.
