Washing Wool Sweaters
A wool sweater needs its own care decision before it joins a load. Some items are machine washable, while others require hand washing or professional attention. The knit's shape also needs protection after cleaning. Choose a permitted process and remove water gently rather than relying on a fabric name or a reassuring cycle label alone.
Check each sweater separately
Whirlpool recommends reading care labels and sorting sweaters by color, fabric, soil level, and cleaning requirements. Machine washing is suitable only where the label allows it. A mixed pile of knitwear may contain items that need to be hand washed and should be removed before the machine is loaded.

Avoid unnecessary stress
The guide advises leaving room in the drum, using the recommended detergent dose, and choosing compatible settings. Drying should be checked again rather than inferred from washability. A sweater permitted in the washer may still require air drying, so the care sequence needs to protect the fabric after the wash as well as during it.
