Interpreting Ironing Temperature Marks
The iron symbol and its modifiers identify the permitted finishing treatment. They should not be confused with washing or dryer-temperature marks elsewhere on the same label. A fiber name can provide context, but blends, linings, and surface details may change the limits. Use the directions for the finished garment before selecting a heat setting or applying steam.
Choose heat from the label
Ariel recommends checking the shirt's care instructions and making sure it is clean before ironing, because heat can set existing stains. Begin with a lower setting when the permitted treatment is uncertain rather than assuming every shirt tolerates the same heat. Fabric blends can change what is appropriate.

Work through the sections
The guide describes pressing the collar, shoulders, cuffs, sleeves, and body in a controlled sequence. Work around buttons rather than pressing directly on them, then hang the finished shirt promptly. The aim is to smooth each area without introducing new creases or damaging details, with the garment's allowed heat setting governing the entire process.
