Timed drying runs for a selected period whether clothing needs all that heat or not. A compatible automatic cycle uses moisture sensing to stop nearer the required dryness, helping limit unnecessary heat exposure and fabric damage. It is still important to select a suitable temperature.

Read garment labels and the dryer's cycle guidance before loading. Do not treat a delicate setting as permission to tumble-dry an excluded fabric. Remove clothes promptly when the cycle ends and fold or hang them to limit wrinkles from sitting in a crowded drum.
