A cordless iron does not remove the need for an electrical supply. Ideal Home explains that its base remains plugged in while the iron can be lifted away for use. A conventional corded model receives its supply continuously through the attached lead, which creates a different rhythm during an ironing session.

The cordless arrangement can make positioning a board and moving around a garment easier. The tradeoff is that the base becomes part of the setup rather than disappearing from it. Consider the available surface, your preferred working position and the kinds of items you press, instead of deciding from the word cordless alone.
