Coffee-Stain Care for Clothing
A coffee spill should prompt a fabric check as well as a stain-removal decision. Pretreatment and washing must remain compatible with the garment and the chosen product. Inspect the affected area after cleaning rather than assuming the cycle has solved it; a remaining mark can become more difficult to address if it proceeds straight to heated drying.
Start with the material
Maytag separates a method for common washable fabrics from a gentler approach for more sensitive textiles. Its guidance includes rinsing and detergent treatment before washing at a temperature safe for the garment. The care label is the boundary, rather than a general instruction to use hot water on every coffee mark.

Check before heated drying
The source recommends air drying while assessing the result and repeating treatment when necessary. A dryer can make a remaining coffee stain harder to remove. This final check matters as much as the pretreatment: a garment should not proceed automatically from washer to dryer simply because it was included in an otherwise successful load.
